Description

Grounded, resonant, and still highly versatile, our Medium Size Singing Bowl 18/19 cm sits at the upper end of the medium-size range within our Sound Bath & Meditation selection.

At this size, the bowl offers more body, depth, sustain, and vibrational presence than smaller and mid-medium formats, while still remaining manageable and easy to integrate into different practice settings. It can produce a clear and stable tone with a fuller sound field, making it especially useful for meditation, yoga, individual Sound Therapy sessions, and group Sound Bath work.

This is an excellent size for practitioners who want a bowl with enough presence to function very well on its own, while also integrating naturally into a wider set. Compared with smaller and lighter bowls, it brings more support, continuity, and tonal weight to the space. Compared with larger bowls, it remains more agile and easier to handle in a variety of session contexts.

Within a set, this size helps anchor the middle range and connect brighter upper tones with deeper supporting tones, contributing to a more balanced and coherent sonic space. Used on its own, it can already provide a rich and satisfying sound experience for personal practice and smaller-format sessions.

Because each handcrafted bowl is unique, bowls in this size range can sometimes offer a more perceptible vibration, especially when the bronze is thinner and the tone develops with greater depth. However, this bowl has not been specifically selected for direct sound massage work on the body.

This bowl has been selected by Jorge Zain for its acoustic behavior and for the practical role it can play in meditation, Sound Bath work, and Sound Therapy. Like all our bowls, it is handcrafted using traditional forging and hammering techniques, which gives each piece its own sonic character.

What is the best way to use this bowl?

This size is especially useful for practitioners who want a singing bowl with more presence and support, while still keeping good versatility.

It can work very well as a standalone bowl for personal meditation, yoga practice, individual Sound Therapy sessions, and smaller group settings. It is also a strong addition to a larger set, where it helps stabilize the middle range and create more continuity between higher and lower tones.

For a clear and stable response, we recommend using the wooden side of the mallet when making the bowl sing.

Can this bowl be used on the body?

This bowl is not selected for sound massage or for direct vibroacoustic work on the body.

However, because each handcrafted bowl is unique, bowls in this size range can sometimes produce lower frequencies and a more perceptible vibration, especially when the piece is thinner. For that reason, some units may feel slightly vibroacoustic in practice.

However, since these bowls have not been specifically selected for that purpose, we do not recommend them as the right choice for direct work on the body.

If you are looking for bowls specifically selected for direct body application, we recommend our Vibroacoustic Singing Bowls for Sound Massage collection.

How do I choose the right size?

Choosing the right size depends on the role you want the bowl to play in your practice.

Smaller bowls usually bring more brightness, agility, and detail. Medium bowls offer a more balanced relationship between clarity, sustain, and presence. Within that range, 18/19 cm is a strong choice for practitioners who want a bowl with a fuller sound, more support in the space, and enough versatility to work both on its own and within a set.

If you are looking for a medium bowl with a more grounded character and a broader sound field, this size can be an excellent option.

Are larger bowls always better?

No.

A larger bowl is not necessarily better. It simply creates a different listening and playing experience.

Some practitioners prefer smaller bowls for their precision, brightness, and ease of movement. Others prefer larger bowls for their depth, sustain, and stronger sense of support in the space. What matters is not choosing the biggest bowl, but choosing the bowl that best fits your way of working and the kind of sound field you want to create.

Are these bowls made of “7 metals”?

The idea of “7 metal bowls” is common in the market, but it is not a reliable indicator of sound quality or function.

What matters most is the acoustic behavior of the bowl: its tone, overtone richness, pulsation, response, sustain, and how it behaves in practice.

Each bowl in our selection is chosen for its sonic performance and practical use, not for symbolic or marketing-based classifications.
